Spirits

Now is our most beloved time of year, the spooky season. which in San Diego is not heralded in by falling autumnal leaves, but the all-powerful Santa Anna, The Red Wind, whipping out of the desert passes dry as a bone before smashing with gale force into the county. Wildfires turn into apocalypses, infants and animals refuse to be calmed, and we remember what Raymond Chandler wrote:

“Every booze party ends in a fight. Meek little wives feel the edge of the carving knife and study their husbands’ necks.”

In the storytelling business, we try to pull together shows around this time with themes that fit the mood, and so our October episode today is called, “Spirits.”
